Tax Assistant
The primary purpose and function of the Tax Assistant is to assist the tax department with the management of tax software and oversight of critical deadlines to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting. The Tax Assistant will also assist in the setup of new entities to ensure that all required forms and licenses are obtained.

- Review, process and draft correspondence with tax agencies through letters, faxes, scanning, copying, and e-mailing.
Set up & maintain tax department data storage system - with separate folder for each entity, each year.
- Track due dates for tax returns to ensure deadlines are met. Provide list to appropriate parties of all tax returns due (and not yet filed) 10 days and 5 days before each deadline.
- Oversee electronic filing of tax returns through Lacerte.
- Maintain Lacerte software including inputting all existing clients and entering new entities and all relevant information after it is formed and software updates.
- Review new LLC's, corporations, and S-Corporations to ensure initial period tax payment is made.
- Compose and prepare reports, spreadsheets, presentations and other complex documents in final form from very rough drafts.
- Input fixed asset additions into Lacerte depreciation modules, including proper categorization of assets per G/L data.
- Schedule appointments, order department supplies, prepare applications for resale licenses, city business licenses, secretary of state registration forms, etc.
- Assist with preparing sales tax returns, property tax returns, and spreadsheets for year-end projections
- Provide reports & schedules as needed from General Ledger
- Provide K-1 schedules to all partners / shareholders of each entity
- Assemble and distribute tax organizer booklets to individuals early January
- Maintain continuing education files for CPA's in department
- Assist with download of data from Solomon accounting software to Lacerte tax software.
  • Equivalent to high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five or more years of experience; or equivalent co mbination of education, training, and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Business or other closely related field.
  • Experience working with Lacerte tax software and Soloman accounting software.
