Overview
The primary purpose and function of the Revenue Assurance Specialist is to maintain an acceptable level of accounts receivable. The Revenue Assurance Specialist will assist in monitoring aging accounts, contacting insurance carriers to request payment, partnering with Operations Teams to submit appropriate documentation, as needed, and processing patient and carrier refunds and adjustments within a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for collecting outstanding balances on patient accounts by contacting insurance carriers to request claim payment status. Supply insurance carriers with required documentation, as requested.
  • Utilize various communication methods, both on and offline, to contact insurance carriers.
  • Open tasks to dental center(s), providing the specific information and/or instruction needed to obtain claim payment.
  • Read and analyze explanation of benefits and make proper adjustments according to Coast Dental claims processing criteria.
  • Analyze and process refund and adjustment requests from the dental center(s). Requires ability to read and understand insurance contracts, fee schedules and account histories, and make a well-formulated business decision. Once approved, refunds are processed and adjustments are entered into practice management system.
  • Work closely with the dental center(s) in protecting the assets of Coast Dental by properly training the offices when errors are made and how to correct them. Work to eliminate errors through education and training.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of medical or dental collections experience.
  • Ability to research and problem solve, using analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency in Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Capable of working independently.
